Well, Rachel finished pharmacy school just a few days ago and now has a wedding two months away–I’d say she’s got quite the life accomplishments going down this summer. Fortunately, she and her other half, Stephen, are as even-keeled and low-stress as can be so I’d guess they’re going to manage all the “to-dos” of this summer quite effectively.

Funny story about this here photo session. It’s no secret that I like to shoot through things when I’m shooting. You know, all those blurry colors that show up in the foreground of many of my pictures? Well, to shoot through something it often means that you have to shoot while in something. On this particular day, it was in and through some pretty green leaves–only later to be discovered was poison ivy. And a TON of it. It took four weeks for it all to clear up for me (after a shot, antibiotics and the whole nine yards). Guess it’s only appropriate that photographing a pharmacist would result in the need for antibiotics, huh?

(Thankfully, Rachel & Stephen weren’t required to be as exposed to the “pretty” greenery as I was and both of them avoided any poisonous reaction… whew)

A fun little portrait session of Mandy & Taylor right here in Jackson a few weeks after their Jamaican wedding. They had to get some wedding portraits in their actual hometown, right? Right.

Roaming around the Fondren area in Jackson does a camera, a photographer, and a pretty couple a whole lot of good. And Mandy & Taylor… dang you two are pretty.

I got one of the nicest e-mails from any bride ever from this gal, Kristi, following her receipt of her wedding day slideshow. Sure, it made me feel so good to hear her encouraging words about the pictures and how pleased she was with them, but even more than that it helped me know more about what type of person she is. Kristi cares about people. She takes her time getting to know someone, it seems, and in doing so she knows even better how to speak words to someone that have a powerful impact.

Hal is a little bit more simply spoken, but caring nonetheless. I loved how sweetly he handled Kristi and how his presence brought her no greater calm–after she saw him on the wedding day nothing else really seemed to matter all that much.

It was another Provine Chapel wedding for me, probably somewhere around the 20th wedding I’ve shot in that venue, but it’s still such a magical place. It never seems to get old. Here are a few from this sweet, sweet, wedding day…

With engagements, bridals, and the wedding, I got to know this couple well, and I hate we won’t have any more excuses to spend time together. Since we both live in the area hopefully our paths will cross again soon!

I don’t ever post pics of the food… not a ton of photographic skill to take shots like these, but, there is a whole lot of skill making something as delicious as this. It was some sort of grape/brown sugar/cream cheese/pecan goodness that I literally couldn’t stop eating. I had two plates and started getting looks. So delicious…

I’ll put it this way: I hope I love Jess as sweetly and intentionally as this groom, Ralph, loves his bride, Shayla. These two aren’t the loudest folks in a  crowd–they’re unassuming, sort of quiet, and tremendously in love. I sort of connect with guys who are a little expressive emotionally (maybe ’cause I’m a bit of a crier myself), so I loved the moments of the wedding day when Ralph was so wrapped up in the significance of it all that he shed a tear or just had to hold on to Shayla just a little bit longer.

Now, the folks that joined them on the wedding day? A crazy fun crew. The dance party was happening and laughter and excitement filled Reservoir Point in Jackson where we all celebrated together. Suffice to say, I completely enjoyed myself on this bright, sunny, fall wedding day.

Rebecca walks into my studio the week after she gets engaged and, basically, says: “Alright, what days do you have open so I know what my wedding date options are.” Are you kidding me?! I don’t think I could feel any greater honor than a bride working her wedding day around my availability. Seriously – I’m such a blessed guy.

What makes this scenario even better is that Rebecca & Seth are two people I’ve known since college and their wedding day was something I certainly didn’t want to miss. And what I expected of their wedding day proved absolutely true: it was all about worshipping Jesus. This wedding was a tribute to Christ in the most perfect way. Here are a few images that hopefully help give you a little sense of what this day felt like…

I love any chance weddings give me to travel. This one took me to McKinney, Texas, just outside of Dallas. I got to stay with family, which made the deal even sweeter, and took part in a wedding ceremony that was as right as one can be. Brett Ann and Wes are that real, authentic, earthy kind of couple who worked at camps in the summers. In fact, that’s where they met–Kanakuk Kamps–and even continued working there after their wedding. The thing that struck me most about this was how far it meant so many of their guests came to be a part of Brett Ann & Wes’ big day. I hope they had a count of all the states represented because I’m sure it would be quite a list.

I love you two. Thanks for bringing me along all the way from Mississippi and thanks for being so incredibly encouraging as a two clients and friends. Hope you’re back this way soon so we can spend some time together!

Breanne & Brennen have the coolest story of meeting of anyone. Period. I told all about it when I posted they’re engagement session way back when. They’re wedding day was a perfect reflection of Breanne’s detail attentiveness matched with Brennen’s social easygoingness.

Not to mention it was at the outstandingly beautiful First Baptist Church of Jackson and always chic South Warehouse. It was a beautiful day, all around.

Whitney is–actually–one of the funniest brides I’ve worked with. I love her and Will’s demeanor and I’m so happy we get to spend more time with them than just a wedding weekend. We were good college friends and now attend church together as “grown-ups” and they’re hearts are good as gold. Really, they have such sweet spirits.

They’re wedding day was a little dreary, but those sweet spirits I’m talking about handled the cloudy skies with positivity and they’re day remained the picture-perfect occasion I knew it would be.
