Emilee arrived to the church on her wedding day just as every bride should: dress in one hand and I think it was hot tea from the local coffee shop in the other; completely chill and ready to take on her wedding day and whatever came with it. And her and Matt’s wedding day went by without a hitch. A beautiful and warm day with a crowd of beautiful and warm people who celebrated alongside the two of them.

These two are easy to photograph… they slip into this happy little world where they seem to be the only two who exist, giving me all the time I need to work my shot into the perfect composition… thanks you two. And thanks for allowing me the great privilege of photographing this once-in-a-lifetime day.

It was a swanky/snazzy/special sort of wedding day for Nicki and Adam. The setting was Nicki’s parents’ home and the backdrop was a warm, sunny summer day. Shanna Lumpkin and Wendy Putt helped pull together the details of the day, and boy was there plenty of those. On-location catering matched with a pool-covered dance floor might sound like a logistical nightmare, but this team handled it flawlessly. Nicki and Adam were able to just enjoy the day as it flew by and (hopefully) have a blast soaking it all in.

I loved taking part and hate that it’s taken so long for me to show this wedding off on my blog, but the spectacular nature of it all is certainly something not to miss.

Laura & David are two of the funniest clients I’ve ever had. Their interaction together is priceless: sarcastic yet strikingly sweet, spontaneous yet perfectly patient. Truthfully, I’ve kind of missed spending time with them and seeing them regularly since their wedding photography needs are over. They’re blog post has been a long time coming, but, I’m still proud to show off some of the great moments that made up their wedding day.

Laura’s pretty theatrical… and, needless to say, so was her bridesmaid crew that surrounded her on that day…

And, of course, no party’s complete without the FOTOBOOTH.

It’s a little weird photographing your little brother’s wedding. I mean, only because your only younger brother is supposed to always be the bratty little kid who likes to get on your nerves, right? Well, this past summer brought the great joy of not only seeing him become a husband, but having the joy of welcoming a beautiful, spirited, spunky, and uplifting sister into my family. I’ve said this before about couples I work with, but I can say it a bit more authoritatively when it comes to my own brother, but, Kyle has found his perfect match in Lindsey. She’s just feisty enough to handle him, yet graceful enough to support him. I love their dynamic, and any time Jess and I leave their company (which is embarrassingly less often than I’d hope for), we are left refreshed and anxious to see them again. The blog is severely behind so, I’m leaving you with only a few shots from their day, but some that I’ll hope you enjoy.

This might be the first time I’ve ever blogged one of the formal portraits, but, here’s a shot of me and my brothers… and no, I wasn’t adopted.

One of the funniest getaway car pranks I’ve seen… Kyle’s groomsmen loaded his air vents with baby powder… LOVE that I got a shot of all of it exploding into his face.

I went on and on about why these two are important to me when I posted their engagements a while back. Well, nothing has changed. Except that I photographed their wedding and it was one that brought me to tears. I still have chills when I think about Kathryn bursting through the doors of Provine Chapel at the exact moment that “Come Thou Fount” reached its musical climax. It was a beautiful moment that appropriately now belongs in the memory of all who attended Luke & Kathryn’s wedding ceremony.

FOTOBOOTH:

Gabby and Josh are strikingly well paired. They’re demeanors are simple and understated; a perfect combination of intentional and laid back. They’re wedding personified this better than my words: Sampson’s Hollow is a venue tucked away in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee with nothing but open air and pretty landscapes standing between me and pretty wedding pictures. I was happy to join them on their big day, and am forever grateful that they allowed me to join them.

I LOVED this wedding. The marriage happened at one of the prettiest churches in Jackson (St. Andrew’s Cathedral), the party happened at the always trendy hotspot The South, details were nailed by the fabulous Kendall Poole, and (as always) Wendy Putt made life perfect with her crew handling the food and flowers. Clearly, I could shoot this wedding over and over and be perfectly happy.

Fun story. Charlotte and her sister (Laura) were both married this summer. Laura, just a couple of months prior. Such a sweet experience for them to walk through together.

Some rainy weather kept us inside for all of the pictures… which makes it nice to have a place so beautiful in which to shoot.

St. Andrew’s doesn’t “allow” photography during the ceremony… shhhh…

How grateful am I that the rainy weather of the day resulted in a sunset this beautiful. A great tradeoff, I’d say…

I love their heart for people too, Joe is a music teacher, and Nichol is a counselor. They live lives that enrich other people–such an admirable trait for sure.

Anyway, thanks for your patience in dealing with a photographer who had a whole lot of life going on… and never complaining once. I’m so pleased with how these images turned out…

Meg’s first FOTOBOOTH appearance…

So many people call other people “rockstars” that it’s kinda gotten old, and it’s certainly lost its effectiveness.

However, I’m not sure there’s any way to better describe this bride. Heather is spunky and social, has killer vocals and can work a stage, and she has a heart for Jesus that she makes fully evident in her life. Get it? She’s a rockstar (really). And Daniel, well, he’s her perfect match. He’s the stability; the tender heart; the positive demeanor. He makes people feel good about themselves because he cares about you whether he’s known you for years or just a few minutes.

Their story is a good one… Heather knew some of Daniel’s family here in Jackson, despite his living out of state. Well, they established contact through these mutual friends and began a written exchange of 100 questions about one another. Those questions ranged from things basic to deep, and a real relationship formed… and before we all knew it, they were engaged and now wed. And you can tell that these two couldn’t be happier.

I’ve known Heather now for about 5 or 6 years, and I was one of the many who couldn’t have been more thrilled to see her glow the entire day of her wedding. So many friends showed up for these two and packed out The South here in Jackson for their one-of-a-kind wedding ceremony and reception.

Heather will most definitely kill me for this… but, I can’t really imagine why the faces after eating the cake? (Maybe it was a “Dang! This is good!” sort of thing…)
