wilson family

If you follow me on Instagram, you know this little girl really well… Eleanor is one of Meg’s best friends and their carefree, honest, expressive interaction together is something that keeps us (their parents) smiling and I just can’t help but want to document.  This photo alone has made me laugh more than any I’ve ever taken and might just be my very favorite:

So, naturally, I couldn’t wait to spend a couple of hours photographing Eleanor and her parents. And I truly couldn’t be more proud of these photos. In fact, this session along with a few others that have happened over the last few months are starting to redirect how we’re handling the family sessions I photograph. Basically, no more of the multi-outift/forced-smile/meaningless locations in family sessions. And we’re even changing our product offerings for families and soon introducing a new book specifically designed for our family session clients. A bit more of the thoughts that have been churning in my head landed in this Instagram post (captioning the top photo).

Now, back to Adam, Carrie, & Eleanor – we love these three. We’re not letting them go anywhere, so I have a feeling this isn’t the last you’ll seen of them. Oh, and if you have any home improvement needs, you’ve got to give Adam a call – I can’t recommend his work highly enough. He painted our new house for us before we moved in and he and his crew blew us away. Check out some of his work HERE.

Now, on to the photos… I triple dog dare you to try to go through these without smiling…

And just because I’m changing my “approach” a bit, I need you families to know that I’m not totally abandoning the “standard family portrait”–but that I’ll be shooting even fewer of these in hopes of spending more time documenting a story, emotions, and interactions.
